Engineering Performance Solutions Founder Rick Loftis Retires, Company Welcomes New Ownership
After more than two decades of leadership in the water treatment industry, Rick Loftis, co-founder of Engineering Performance Solutions, LLC, is retiring. Under the continued leadership of Christine Valcarce, who has been leading the company for more than five years, Engineering Performance Solutions will carry on its longstanding commitment to providing reliable laboratory and consulting services to the water treatment industry.
Loftis co-founded Engineering Performance Solutions in Gainesville, Florida, in 2002 after graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering Sciences. Since its founding, he has helped establish the company as a trusted provider of cost-effective laboratory and consulting services for the water treatment industry.
Throughout his career, Loftis has been involved in innovative research focused on advancing water treatment technologies. He has served as a co-principal investigator on a Department of Energy-funded proposal focused on converting coal waste into activated carbon. He also served as a co-principal investigator on an American Water Works Company project developing a novel thermal reactivation protocol for converting spent granular activated carbon into reactivated granular carbon that can outperform its virgin counterpart.
In addition to his work with Engineering Performance Solutions, Loftis has been an active member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and serves on the AWWA Standards Committee for Activated Carbon Testing.
Over the past 20-plus years, Loftis has combined his engineering expertise with a commitment to practical, innovative solutions for the water treatment industry. His work has contributed to advancements in activated carbon testing, reactivation and treatment technologies while helping clients address their laboratory and consulting needs.
As Loftis begins his retirement, Engineering Performance Solutions will continue under the ownership of Christine Valcarce. The transition marks a new chapter for the company while building on the foundation Loftis established over more than two decades.
